How to Choose a Career

Every student suffers from one question – What career you will choose? (बड़े होके क्या बनोगे) but no one teaches us how to choose a career and due to this many students choose a career in the following ways.

• Based on Parent’s Expectations
• Based on the percentage
• Current Trends
• Media Influence
• Lack of awareness about different career options
• Peer Influence
• Focus on Interest

People usually choose their careers based on their parents, friends, marks, or current trends but they later regret their decision because they feel it’s not their cup of tea so they change careers. Therefore we will today discuss how to choose a career.

How to Choose a Career

• Don’t follow others
• Self Awareness – Find yourself, find your interest, strength
• If you unable to  know your interest then explore yourself
• Collect all information about the field where you are interested
• Discuss with an expert or person in that field
• What Resources do you have
• What is the future scope in that field?

Don’t Follow others

In many cases, students follow their big brothers, sisters, or friends and make a decisions accordingly. After a few years, they realize their decision were wrong. Therefore, don’t follow others. Make your own choices/decision.

Self Awareness – Find yourself, find your interest, strength

All of us are aware of other people’s strengths and weakness, but we don’t know our own strengths and weakness. Therefore, we schedule a date with ourselves so that we can discover our strengths and interests.

If you unable to know your interest then explore yourself

Many time people can’t find their interest or strength then they should explore them self by doing internship in different field so you can identify your likes or dislikes.

Collect all information about the field where you are interested

If you have identified your interests and strengths or identified your field, then you should collect as much information as you can about the field where you want to pursue. You can collect information from online resources such as google, you tube.

Discuss with an expert or person in that field

If you want to know what the ground reality of a field is like, or if you want to know other information about that field, you should contact someone who are working in it. It is a great way to get an understanding of any field.

What Resources do you have

It is an important question to ask yourself. What resource do you have? Can you afford to spend that money or time? Many times people choose career options they cannot afford with money or time constraints so we should think carefully before choosing before choosing that career path.

What is the future scope in that field?

The question you should ask yourself before entering a field is: How much scope is there in that field? Because you are investing your time and money, you should be receiving equivalent or better returns on your investment.
